Accuris launches AI-powered BOM Intelligence to strengthen engineering and supply chain decisions

Accuris, an engineering intelligence platform, has introduced new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for its BOM Intelligence solution, expanding its Supply Chain Intelligence suite with tools designed to help engineering, procurement and supply chain teams identify and address component risks more efficiently.

The new capabilities aim to enable organizations to detect component obsolescence earlier, improve regulatory compliance and strengthen sourcing decisions across complex engineering programs. The platform is built on a verified database of 1.3 billion electronic components with more than 98% accuracy, supported by over 35 years of manufacturer relationships and a dedicated content team.

According to Accuris, the enhanced AI capabilities are designed to transform component risk analysis by reducing weeks of manual assessment into hours while providing auditable, data-driven recommendations.

“Accuris is establishing a new standard for AI in engineering and supply chain intelligence,” said Claude Pumilia, CEO of Accuris. “The winners in enterprise AI will not be the companies that simply add an AI interface. They will be the companies that combine AI with authoritative, verified content and embed it in the decisions where accuracy matters most.”

The new functionality is organized around three core areas to support engineering and supply chain workflows.

The first focuses on AI-powered bill of materials (BOM) optimization, helping engineers evaluate components based on risk, cost, lifecycle and compliance. The solution includes AI-driven decision support that provides explainable recommendations and a conversational BOM AI Agent capable of answering natural-language queries, such as identifying components containing PFAS substances.

The second capability delivers continuous BOM health monitoring, enabling organizations to assess component risks around the clock. The system identifies potential obsolescence, compliance gaps, and opportunities for component standardization while validating sourcing and compliance feasibility before designs are finalized.

The third area introduces predictive compliance and risk intelligence, automatically identifying potential violations related to regulations such as REACH, RoHS, PFAS and TSCA. The platform also forecasts regulatory changes, predicts component end-of-life timelines beyond conventional lifecycle data, and monitors tariffs, sanctions, and regional supply chain disruptions.

Organizations can deploy these capabilities individually or integrate them into a connected workflow to support evolving engineering and supply chain requirements.

“Think of AI as an exoskeleton augmenting capability, accelerating the work and then handing off to the person who makes the final call,” said Greg Jaknunas, Senior Director of Product Management, Supply Chain Intelligence at Accuris. “That only works when the data underneath is authoritative. Organizations that reach for AI before solving data fragmentation are automating the confusion.”

The AI-powered enhancements are intended to support engineering, procurement and quality teams across industries including aerospace and defense, automotive, medical devices and manufacturing by enabling faster, more informed component selection, proactive risk management and stronger governance of sourcing decisions.

Accuris emphasized that while AI accelerates analysis and highlights potential risks, final engineering and sourcing decisions remain under human oversight.
