Abra Group and Etihad Airways sign strategic partnership to expand global connectivity

Abra Group and Etihad Airways have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing air connectivity between Latin America, the Middle East and Asia through closer commercial and operational collaboration.

The agreement provides a framework for cooperation across Abra Group’s airline portfolio, including Avianca, GOL and Wamos Air. Planned initiatives include network expansion, codeshare agreements, reciprocal frequent flyer benefits, aircraft leasing, ACMI operations and other commercial opportunities.

Several elements of the partnership are expected to be introduced during 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. As part of the agreement, GOL and Etihad will assess the dry lease of an Airbus A330-900, with operations targeted to begin in November 2026.

In addition, Wamos Air is expected to support Etihad’s network growth by deploying up to three aircraft from March 2027 under the collaboration. The partnership is designed to improve connectivity across Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, the Indian Subcontinent and Australia, offering passengers expanded travel options across the combined networks.

The strategic alliance reflects the shared ambition of Abra Group and Etihad Airways to strengthen their global reach while leveraging Abra’s multi-airline platform and Abu Dhabi’s growing role as an international aviation hub.
