Lockheed Martin, advanced aerospace technology company, commits to the Indian governmentâs strategic âMake in Indiaâ policy, the national âSkills Initiativeâ and to work with industrial partners in India to expand its business footprint.
Marillyn Hewson, chairman, president and CEO, Lockheed Martin, highlighted Lockheed Martinâs sponsorship of the India Innovation Growth Programme (IIGP) as an example of effective partnership in action in meeting with political leaders, senior government officials and leading Indian industrialists.
Backed by Lockheed Martin since 2007, IIGP is a partnership involving industry and academia in both India and the United States. It has underpinned Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs âStart Up Indiaâ call by supporting more than 400 innovators and start-up companies since launch.
Hewson, said, âItâs a natural endeavour for a global technology company like Lockheed Martin and an important way that we are able to contribute to the economic success of a nation where weâve done business for many decades.â
In 2011, Lockheed Martin reached a major milestone with the formation of the first private US defence industry partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Limited.
Today, every C-130J airlifter sold internationally contains major aerostructure assemblies manufactured in India and each S-92 medium-lift helicopter built by Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has a cabin manufactured in Hyderabad.
