Air Canada expands Cargo ops to five destinations in Europe & South America

Air Canada Cargo have expanded their operations to five new destinations in Europe and South America Bogota, Lima, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Madrid from 1st June 2020.

4 June 2020: With commercial aviation taking a hit due to COVID-19 pandemic, the cargo industry’s fate has turned the other way round. The supply of medicines, face masks, face shields, pharmaceutical & consumer goods, PPE kits etc. to the COVID-19 affected countries have increased over the past months. Looking at the current market need, many commercial airlines are not just expanding their freighter operations but are also converting their passenger flights to freighters. One such airline to join the group is Air Canada. Their freight division, Air Canada Cargo have expanded their operations to five new destinations in Europe and South America Bogota, Lima, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Madrid from 1st June 2020.

Air Canada has also converted four Boeing 777-300ERs and three Airbus A330-300s enabling cargo in passenger cabins.

Feeling extremely proud of this expansion, the Vice President – Cargo at Air Canada, Tim Strauss said, “These nonstop flights originating from Montreal to Europe and South America will enhance our global connectivity, allowing us to continue supporting the global supply chain and our freight forwarding customers,”

Besides supplying basic amenities, Air Canada also provides global supply links to keep world economies moving by connecting goods from international destinations via Canada such as from South America to Asia via Canada or Europe to the US via Canada.

Air Canada Cargo has operated more than 1,200 cargo-only flights since the end of March.
