Lufthansa Technik names Grazia Vittadini as Chairwoman of supervisory board
Grazia Vittadini will collaborate with the Executive Board and extensive workforce to advance the ‘Ambition 2030’ growth strategy and sustain Lufthansa Technik's success.

Italian-German dual national, Grazia Vittadini had an extensive career in aviation technology, including previous roles as CTO at Airbus Group and Rolls-Royce.

The Lufthansa Technik announced the appointment of Grazia Vittadini as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board. Vittadini has been serving as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Lufthansa Group, overseeing the Group’s Fleet and Technology, IT & Innovation, and Sustainability divisions, Since July 1, 2024.  

Vittadini has succeeded Dr. Detlef Kayser, whose term has concluded.  Her appointment to Lufthansa Technik follows an extensive career in aviation technology, including previous roles as CTO at Airbus Group and Rolls-Royce. 

In a statement, Grazia Vittadini expressed her gratitude and anticipation for her new role, stating, “This position is a privilege for me, and I appreciate the confidence placed in me. We have ambitious objectives for Lufthansa Technik, and I am eager to collaborate with the Executive Board and our extensive workforce to advance the ‘Ambition 2030’ growth strategy and sustain the company’s success.”

Vittadini’s career in aerospace engineering began in 1998 with Marves in Milan, where she served as Head of the Technical Department. She subsequently held positions at Fairchild Dornier as a stress and design engineer and at AEREA Aircraft Equipment focusing on the Eurofighter Role Equipment Program.

Her tenure at Airbus Group spanned nearly two decades, from 2002 to 2021, during which she progressed from design engineer to senior executive roles, culminating in her appointment as Executive Vice President, Head of Engineering, and a Member of the Executive Committee of Airbus Defense and Space in 2017. In 2018, she advanced to Chief Technology Officer and a Member of the Airbus Executive Committee.

An Italian-German dual national, Grazia Vittadini holds a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on Aerodynamics from the Politecnico di Milano and an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering & Technology from Cranfield University, UK.
