Sikorsky delivers final VH-92A Presidential Helicopter
It marked a key milestone in a two-decade-long effort to replace the Vietnam-era helicopters that have been transporting presidents, in some cases, since the 1970s.

The new “White Top” helicopter utilizes the FAA-certified Sikorsky S-92, renowned for its safety and reliability, ensuring long-term affordability and mission success.

In a landmark event, the U.S. Marine Corps has formally accepted the 23rd and final VH-92A presidential helicopter from Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company. This milestone not only highlights Sikorsky’s long-standing legacy of excellence but also marks the continuation of a tradition that has seen their aircraft transport every U.S. president since 1957.

It marked a key milestone in a two-decade-long effort to replace the Vietnam-era helicopters that have been transporting presidents, in some cases, since the 1970s.

Lieutenant General Bradford Gering, Deputy Commandant for Aviation, said, “This delivery represents a significant milestone and new chapter in the rich, 67-year history of Marines providing helicopter transport of the president of the United States. The VH-92A Patriot brings increased capabilities for this no-fail mission supporting the Commander-in-Chief around the world, Sikorsky’s contribution to Marine Aviation has enabled your United States Marine Corps to be a ready and lethal fighting force.”

The VH-92A, distinguished by its white and green livery, is set to carry the President, Vice President, and other high-level officials with the same reliability and prestige that Sikorsky’s helicopters have provided for decades. The new “White Top” helicopter integrates the FAA-certified Sikorsky S-92 aircraft, known for its exceptional safety and reliability, ensuring long-term affordability and mission success.

Modified at Sikorsky’s facilities in Owego, New York, and Stratford, Connecticut, the VH-92A has been adapted to meet stringent government requirements, continuing Sikorsky’s proud legacy in presidential air transport.
