Boeing Gains Order for two more MH-47G Block II Chinooks from US Army
With this new order, the delivery of 46 MH-47G Block II aircraft is assigned to Boeing.

USASOAC awarded Boeing a $115 million contract for two MH-47G Block II Chinooks and future helicopter procurement.

The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC) granted Boeing a contract valued at $115 million to produce two more MH-47G Block II Chinook aircraft and begin advanced procurement on future helicopters. With this order, the total number of MH-47G Block II aircraft under contract with the USASOAC adds up to 46.

Heather McBryan, Cargo Programs vice President and Program Manager, Boeing Defense, Space & Security, said, “Whether it’s operating in the dead of night or in difficult terrain, the MH-47G Block II is a proven workhorse for special operations, It is our privilege to support ongoing USASOAC modernization efforts that will continue to have a real-world impact on U.S. national security.”

The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command’s (USASOAC) Chinook modernization program supports over 20,000 jobs and engages 360 suppliers across 40 states in the U.S. The production of the Chinook Block II helicopters not only enhances the manufacturing base but also ensures ongoing support for the production line and fleet sustainment activities.

The MH-47G Block II heavy-lift helicopter, featuring a reinforced airframe, redesigned fuel tanks, and advanced avionics, significantly enhances the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command’s (USASOAC) global reach capabilities. The Block II design also facilitates future cost-effective modernization efforts, ensuring the continued operational relevance of this iconic helicopter for decades.
