Finnair completes €200M Long-Haul Cabin upgrade, enhancing passenger experience worldwide.

Finnair has completed its 200 million euro long-haul cabin renewal, with all long-haul aircraft now refurbished. The project introduced a new Business Class seat, a Premium Economy cabin, and a refreshed Economy Class. Launched in 2022, this state-of-the-art cabin has been installed on Finnair’s entire A350 and A330 fleet. Consequently, customers can now enjoy a consistent Finnair experience on all long-haul routes from Helsinki to the US, Middle East, and Asia.

Ole Orvér, Chief Commercial Officer of Finnair, said “After just two years, it is fantastic to have completed the rollout of our new award-winning long-haul cabin. Since its launch in 2022, customer feedback on our revolutionary Business Class seat and brand-new Premium Economy cabin has been excellent, so we are proud to be able to offer the renewed cabin on flights to all our long-haul destinations. We also know our customers value consistency and reliability, so to offer a uniform cabin concept across our whole fleet is a huge step on our customer experience journey. Customer satisfaction with our long-haul cabins has increased significantly with the cabin renewal.”

The new long-haul experience has garnered several accolades, including ‘Cabin Concept of the Year’ by Onboard Hospitality, and ‘Best Cabin Innovation’ by APEX. Additionally, it received ‘Best Cabin (First & Business Class)’ at the Yacht and Aviation Awards. Judges at the Crystal Cabin Awards and Skytrax also praised Finnair’s product, which set a new standard in airline excellence. Finnair, as the launch customer, introduced the innovative Business Class seats, developed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace.  Designed to maximize space, the unique fixed shell lounge seat offers diverse sitting and sleeping positions. This design allows customers to personalize their space on long-haul flights. Inspired by Finnair’s Nordic design language, the cabin features a warm, dark color scheme, mirroring the palette and design of the airline’s pre-pandemic non-Schengen lounges at Helsinki Airport.

Finnair will enhance its customer experience and fleet in the coming months. Additionally, it will begin renewing the cabins of its regional E190 aircraft. These short-haul jets, serving popular Nordic destinations, will feature a new cabin design inspired by Finnair’s long-haul fleet. Additionally, Finnair will open a larger lounge at the Schengen area of Helsinki Airport for Business Class customers and Finnair Plus tier members, with access available to all Finnair customers as a travel extra.
