VK Singh (retd), Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Road Transport & Highways, and Udayant Malhoutra, CEO & Managing Director, Dynamatic Technologies, in New Delhi.

Under the agreement, Dynamatic will manufacture and assemble cargo, passenger, and service doors, along with over-wing emergency exit doors for the Airbus A220 family aircraft.

Airbus has awarded a significant contract for the manufacturing and assembly of A220 Family aircraft doors to Dynamatic Technologies, a Bengaluru-based aerospace company. This contract, supporting the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ vision, is one of the largest aerospace export contracts to India. Under the agreement, Dynamatic will manufacture and assemble cargo, passenger, and service doors, along with over-wing emergency exit doors for the A220 family aircraft. This includes the production of detailed components, creating downstream opportunities for other Indian suppliers.

This contract is part of Airbus’ efforts to expand its industrial footprint in India, covering aircraft assembly, component manufacturing, engineering design and development, MRO support, pilot and maintenance training, and academic collaboration. Airbus has been strengthening its ties with Indian partners, and the country has become a strategic resource hub for the company.

Dynamatic Technologies, a long-standing partner to Airbus, already manufactures the Flap Track Beam for the Airbus A330 and A320 Family aircraft, as well as the cockpit escape hatch door for the A220.

This contract follows a similar move in 2023 when Airbus awarded a contract for the manufacturing of bulk and cargo doors for the A320 Family to Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. Airbus continues to invest in India, with plans to increase procurement of components and services from the country to about US$1.5 billion in the next few years, up from the current annual amount of around US$750 million.

The A220 is Airbus’ offering in the 100-150 seat market and is designed with state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials, and the latest-generation technologies and engines. The aircraft boasts a 50% reduced noise footprint, up to 25% lower fuel burn per seat compared to previous-generation aircraft, and around 40% lower NOx emissions than industry standards. The A220 is well-suited for both regional and long-distance routes.
