Boeing as part of the U.S. Army’s broader modernization efforts has secured a $271 million contract by The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC) to produce six remanufactured MH-47G Block II aircraft.

This contract is part of the Army’s broader modernization efforts, enhancing the capabilities of the Chinook helicopters to meet the evolving demands of special operations around the world.

Boeing, a key player in global aerospace, now has 42 MH-47G aircraft under contract with USASOAC, highlighting the significance of these heavy-lift helicopters in special operations. The MH-47G Block II program is a response to the increasing complexity of special operations requirements. By adapting and modernizing, the Chinook remains a reliable asset for warfighters, providing the flexibility needed to address contemporary challenges and ensuring its relevance well into the future.

USASOAC and international allies have used the unique capabilities of the Chinook to complete the most daring missions around the globe,” said Heather McBryan, vice president and program manager of cargo programs, Boeing. “With the modernized MH-47G, USASOAC soldiers are well-suited to meet today’s challenging environment. With the new and improved MH-47G Block II aircraft, USASOAC is not only receiving the most capable Chinook helicopter, they are also provided the flexibility to add additional upgrades as their needs evolve over time,” she further added.
