Panasonic Avionics to provide high-speed in-flight WI-FI on Singapore Airlines flight
The enhanced Wi-Fi service is expected to be available on almost the entire SIA fleet across all cabin classes and routes.

Starting from July 1, 2023, SIA customers will enjoy unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi onboard, powered by Panasonic Avionics’ advanced in-flight connectivity services.

Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic Avionics), the leading supplier of in-flight entertainment and communication systems (IFEC), has announced a significant development in its partnership with Singapore Airlines (SIA). Starting from July 1, 2023, SIA customers will enjoy unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi onboard, powered by Panasonic Avionics’ advanced in-flight connectivity services.

Panasonic Avionics’ in-flight connectivity services rely on a global network of high-speed, high-bandwidth satellites, enabling SIA’s passengers to access a range of next-generation connectivity benefits. This move reflects the growing importance of in-flight connectivity to both airlines and their customers, who expect to have seamless connectivity in the air as they do on the ground, including email, web browsing, and social media usage.

John Wade, Vice President of Panasonic Avionics’ In-flight Connectivity Business Unit, said, “In-flight connectivity is paramount to airlines and their customers, and the expectation is that they get the same service in the air as they do on the ground. – everything from email, web browsing, and surfing social media. We are honored to be a part of Singapore Airlines’ vision to offer simply the best in-flight experience. This latest announcement is just the latest example of our mission to work with industry stakeholders to enable passengers to connect in flight easily and affordably.”

The timing of the partnership between Singapore Airlines and Panasonic Avionics is strategic, aligning with the recovery of demand for Wi-Fi and roaming services following the global COVID-19 pandemic. Singapore Airlines has been instrumental in driving the recovery of air travel in Southeast Asian markets, and with the increasing demand for in-flight connectivity services, this collaboration will deliver compelling retail propositions to meet passenger expectations.

The enhanced Wi-Fi service is expected to be available on almost the entire SIA fleet across all cabin classes and routes. Previously, unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi was exclusively offered to First and Business class customers, as well as PPS Club members and supplementary cardholders. However, with this announcement, Economy and Premium Economy passengers, who are KrisFlyer members, will also benefit from unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi.

To access the complimentary Wi-Fi, customers need to register for SIA’s free KrisFlyer membership and input their membership number during the booking process. During the flight, passengers can connect to the KrisWorld network and redeem their complimentary Wi-Fi session through the in-flight Wi-Fi portal.
