International Aero Engines AG (IAE), a multinational consortium consisting of shareholders including Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation, and MTU Aero Engines has appointed Kim Kinsley as the new president. Kinsley, who assumes the role immediately, becomes the first female president in the history of IAE. In addition to her presidency, she will also serve as the vice president of V2500 programs at Pratt & Whitney, reporting to Earl Exum.

Earl Exum, the outgoing president of IAE, will transition to the position of chair on the IAE AG board of directors. He will continue his role as the vice president of Mature Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, a position he has held since October 2022. Exum will focus on developing strategies and execution to support customers, optimize product life, and maximize value from Pratt & Whitney’s mature engines portfolio.

“Kim is uniquely positioned to take IAE forward,” said Exum“The V2500 engine has seen many great successes over IAE’s 40-year history, and we are confident Kim will build on that legacy as we look to the future. Kim has a wealth of experience from within and outside the aerospace industry and will ensure we continue to deliver the proven performance our customers have come to expect,” he further added.

IAE recently celebrated its 40th anniversary and has extended its collaboration agreement until 2045. The V2500, a versatile engine developed by IAE, currently powers around 3,500 aircraft for approximately 150 operators in 80 countries, including commercial, cargo, and military applications. With 70% of these aircraft under 15 years old and one-third of the V2500 engines still on their first run, the engine’s importance continues to grow. It has played a pivotal role in the conversion of Airbus A321 and A320 passenger planes into freighters, and more conversions are planned for the future. Additionally, the V2500 powers the Embraer KC-390 military aircraft and supports a growing customer base. The engine’s efficiency, as it is approved for operation on 50% sustainable aviation fuel, contributes to the aviation industry’s goal of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
