Over the past two decades, ASSB has significantly expanded its capabilities and business operations.

The Lufthansa Technik AG and Aero Engines AG joint company Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhd. repairs about 500,000 engine parts per year for about 100 customers worldwide.

Lufthansa Technik AG and MTU Aero Engines AG joint venture Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB), commemorated two decades of delivering cutting-edge airfoil repair solutions and successful collaboration between two prominent leaders in the aviation MRO industry. The company repairs about 500,000 engine parts per year for about 100 customers worldwide. In March 2023, the mark of 7,000,000 parts delivered in total was surpassed.

Since its establishment in 2003, ASSB has maintained its position as a world-class provider of innovative high-tech airfoil solutions, driven by the combined expertise and resources of its two shareholders. Specializing in airfoil repairs for high-pressure compressors and low-pressure turbines, ASSB utilizes state-of-the-art processes to cater to a wide range of major civil aircraft engine types, including CFM International’s CFM56, GE Aviation’s CF6-80C2, and International Aero Engines’ V2500.

The company is specialized in airfoil repairs for high-pressure compressors and low-pressure turbines using state-of-the-art processes. The portfolio contains all major civil aircraft engine types – including CFM International’s CFM56, GE Aviation’s CF6-80C2, and International Aero Engines’ V2500. ASSB has benefited from its many years of expertise also in the introduction of high-quality services for the latest engine types, such as Pratt & Whitney’s PW1000G engine family, Rolls-Royce’s Trent 1000, 7000 and XWB as well as Engine Alliance’s GP7000.

Over the past two decades, ASSB has significantly expanded its capabilities and business operations. As a center of excellence for airfoil repair, the company continuously introduces new repair technologies, including high-velocity oxygen fuel erosion coating and automated adaptive leading-edge re-contouring. Furthermore, airfoil repair capabilities for adaptive milling and automated welding for CFM56 tech insertion parts have enriched ASSB’s comprehensive portfolio.

To accommodate its growing operations and create additional job opportunities, ASSB recently completed a remarkable expansion in 2019, nearly doubling its production space with a 5,200 square meter facility. Today, the joint venture employs over 500 highly skilled professionals. In line with its commitment to innovation, ASSB is actively engaged in repair development projects for new generation airfoils, further broadening its service portfolio.
