Lufthansa Systems will continue to provide SIA with support for its flight operations using its leading Lido Flight 4D software.

Singapore’s national airline, Singapore Airlines (SIA), and Lufthansa Systems commemorated their 20-year cooperation anniversary at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore. In addition to the milestone, Lufthansa Systems hailed Scoot’s smooth transition to the Lido Flight 4D platform. Scoot is SIA’s low-cost division. In accordance with a revised agreement signed in August 2020, Lufthansa Systems will continue to provide SIA with support for its flight operations using its leading Lido Flight 4D software.

“Singapore Airlines is fully committed to tapping on the best tools and infrastructure to enhance our digital capabilities.” said Captain Quay Chew Eng, Senior Vice President Flight Operations, Singapore Airlines. “Lufthansa Systems, through Lido Flight 4D, has been exemplary in its role as an IT solution provider for the last 20 years as we harness operational efficiencies in our flight operations. We look forward to the continued success in our partnership with Lufthansa Systems,” he further added.

Lido Flight 4D was chosen by SIA after a thorough comparison with other top-flight planning technologies. Lido Flight 4D is a cutting-edge, fully integrated flight planning system created by Lufthansa Systems that takes into account all relevant data and information regarding flight operations. Based on verified, high-quality aeronautical data, the system offers timely and precise forecasts for flight times, distances, and headings as well as real-time updates on weather and airspace conditions.

Captain Ian Cheng, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations, Scoot, said: “At Scoot, we are always exploring new ways to enhance operations and improve the experience for our customers by adopting forefront technology. We are delighted to join SIA in integrating Lido Flight 4D into our flight planning system. This will bring about increased operational efficiencies and productivity for our dispatchers and also strengthen the synergy within the SIA Group across multiple facets, such as route monitoring and database maintenance.”

Worldwide, more than 25% of airplanes use Lido Flight 4D. The technology aids dispatchers in determining the best course while taking into consideration the most recent flight-related data. It gives airlines the ability to optimize their flight times, expenses, and fuel use, leading to fuel savings of up to 5%.

“It’s been a very long time since we’ve been in the same room, face to face. The pandemic halted many activities, but not our partnership; we continued to work together to serve our clients and customers.”, stated Tom Vandendael, CEO Lufthansa Systems Asia Pacific, Senior Vice President, and Area Management Asia Pacific. “We are ecstatic to commemorate 20 years of partnership with Singapore Airlines, and its subsidiary, Scoot, who recently migrated to Lido Flight 4D. We are incredibly grateful for their support over the years,” he further added.

The company’s competitive edge in the aviation sector is best demonstrated by the 20-year cooperation between Lufthansa Systems and SIA. Software development, integration, testing, and maintenance with Lido Flight 4D are just a few of the many IT services and products the German company has offered SIA since 2002. At the beginning of November 2022, 109 locations were included in the SIA Group’s passenger network. The fleet of nearly 130 aircraft operated by SIA flies to 76 destinations, while the fleet of 55 aircraft operated by Scoot flies to 56 destinations.
