Fly-by-wire electronics selected on new Cessna Citation Hemisphere

Thales announces it has been selected by Cessna Aircraft Company to provide a full flight control electronics system on the new Cessna Citation Hemisphere large-cabin business jet, to support the aircraft’s full fly-by-wire (FBW) platform. This includes the supply of the flight control computers and remote electronic units, which will command all primary and secondary flight surfaces, along with the High Lift and the Nose Wheel Steering functions.

Thales’ brings three decades of experience in FBW, the quickest and most effective software turnaround time in the industry, and proprietary tools enabling significant reduction of integration and test times during the development phase to deliver on schedule.

Thales’ unique FBW electronics system uses the latest design evolution of field-tested quad-dual flight control computer architecture and modular packaging. It provides superior performance in terms of weight and volume savings, while increasing reliability, availability and dispatch rate.

The Citation Hemisphere is Cessna’s largest aircraft to date, featuring the widest cabin in its class at 102 inches, a three-zone cabin that can accommodate up to 19 passengers and a range of 4,500 nautical miles.
